Do you have problems when your computer wakes from sleep?

ATTENTION! First of all you have to delete appleazaliaaudio.kext (/System/Library/Extensons/ folder) and remove the Audiee application from your login items. Make sure no other HDA kext is installed (other than VoodooHDA.kext)

Use the Kext Helper application to install VoodooHDA.kext.

Double click VoodooHDA.prefPane to install it (optional) if you find it into the provided package.
Reboot, and enjoy!

This is my light release from the r8 source of VoodooHDA. I have just set the volume up for the microphone (90%) to make it work. Nothing else.

This is my extreme release from the r8 source of VoodooHDA. I have set the volume up for the microphone (99%) to make it work, other volumes have been increased too (A boost of +25 from the original values). Nothing else.

This is my patched version of the latest VoodooHDA 0.2.2 release with pref pane. I have just set the volume up for the microphone (90%) to make it work. Nothing else.

You should first test 0.2.2_r8_Thireus_release_light and then 0.2.2_Thireus_patched_light to see which one you like the most. Have a look at the Sound pref pane to see if for you it doesn't matter to do not have specific names for input audio.

I prefer the release version for my eeepc because it displays diffent names for audio input, and I don't need the provided pref pane for VoodooHDA.

Then to know if you need the extreme version, play a song and set the volume at the maximum. If you think it's too low, then use the extreme version.

I prefer the extreme version, because the sound is too low for my eeepc 1000h compared to the light version.

10/05/09: v.4.0

Four different versions, have a look at the description to see what are the differences.
Intelligent volume modifications.
Stereo with input mic works.
Stereo with internal mic works too, but the left side volume is low and seems to catch only ambient noise when I don't scream...

30/04/09: v.3.1

A bit more bass and tremble Smile but nothing else changed

22/04/09: v.3

r8 build

r8: Added improved port descriptions (VHDAEngine.h changed in r6)
r7: Removed personal settings from earlier commit
r6: Support for hints in Info.plist

18/04/09: v.2

Fixed: When you first want to mute the volume, and then get the sound back from the speakers it seems we need to play a bit with the volume so the sound will come back. But this happens only once after a boot Wink

18/04/09: v.1

Thanks goes to the VoodooHDA dev team.

Feel free to download the last source code and edit it:

svn co voodoohda-read-only

If you want to test your microphones with Audacity don't forget to go into audacity pref and set stereo recording!!! Because by default it doesn't record stereo but mono (right channel)! And also, don't forget to choose the right devide for mic recording!

Sound pref pane:

The 4 number is everywhere xD

first of all I would like to thank you for this amazing driver Smile

My speakers work great with the volume boost you implemented, but my mic doesnt seem to work (front and back). In input it just says Mic, no specific names as in your screenshot...

I have 10.5.8 with onboard audio from my intel D945PVS mobo.

Do you maybe know how to fix it? I would loove to use skype Smile

Thanks in advance!

I tried all versions and I have to tell this I like extreme version very much, thanks to which my speakers reaches its potential.

Sadly, the volume control doesnt work so I had to delete it.

I have intel high definition audio with the device id of 0x103C361B.

By the way, my volume control doesnt work with the default kext either.

Now I am using a patched version of AppleHDA.

Is there any workaround to fix this?

Just found this topic ( for fixing the volume control of VoodooHDA on Snow Leopard. Might be useful.

I'm having the following issue when trying to update kext cache:
VoodooHDA.kext is not valid; omitting from mkext.
VoodooHDA.kext is not valid; omitting from mkext.

Any ideas?

Thanks. =)

Oo what the... xD

Never saw that kind of issue. Maybe you should use "Kext Helper b7", it will do the job perfectly well Wink

Hi, me again Smile
First of all, thanks for your patched HDA! It sounds louder then the original one. Very nice.

But I have two questions:
- Do I need the SleepWatcher app? I installed it with the original VooDooHDA to solve the crackling-problem after wake-up.
- And my mic does not work. It just records some noises "rsschhhhh", sou know? Smile

Thanks in advance!

EDIT: Some infos about my system:
Lenovo S10e with 10.5.8.
VoodooHDA 0.2.2-Extreme with prefpane.

2009-08-15 11:13:32

Strange... I don't have the solution sorry. I have an eeepc 1000H so I don't have such a prob.

Maybe it only works for your "External Microphone"?

Have a look here for issue reports:

2009-08-15 12:09:21

Doesn't have the eeePC the same Audio-Chip an Mic as the Lenovo?

And I'm just seeing one mic: Just called "Mic"... No other device...

2009-08-15 14:06:47

Apparently no. You should contact the dev team :/

Hi Thireus,

Yesterday when I was trying to play a dvd from external dvd reader through VLC, the system would crash after a while giving me a popup saying I would need to shutdown the computer.

In the system.log these are the last messages before I shut it down.
They seem to be related to the Audio device, do you know if it could actually cause the crash?

16/08/2009 02:09:24 kernel IOAudioStream[0x423f500]::clipIfNecessary() - Error: attempting to clip to a position more than one buffer ahead of last clip position (28,2041)->(2a,8b1).

2009-08-16 13:11:53

On AC or Battery?

2009-08-16 13:13:50

It was on battery

2009-08-16 13:15:35

Do you have any VoodooPower.kext into your Extensions folder?
If yes, please mail it to me.

2009-08-16 13:18:47

Yep, I found it. What's your email address mate?

2009-08-16 13:19:56

ops seen it now Wink I emailed it to you to the above email.. I also explained other things in there.. hope it helps somehow..

Kernel Panics are related to an issue I discovered a few months ago. Read this:

The problem is that for some reasons VoodooPower is not optimized on battery for some CPU, and causes crashes. And this is not related to any audio kext Wink

You need to use a custom version:
